Experimental investigation on packed bed thermal energy storage using paraffin wax for concentrated solar collector

摘要
A packed bed thermal energy storage (TES) unit is investigated using a 16 m(2) solar parabolic dish collector during the maximum intensity. The storage unit contains spherical capsules with paraffin wax as phase change material. Charging and discharging experiments are conducted in the packed bed TES. The solar radiation is concentrated by parabolic dish on the absorber. Thermal energy of 1.1 kW(th) is stored in TES at mass flow rate of 100 kg/h. Similarly, 0.926 kW(th) and 0.843 kW(th) of energy is stored in TES at the HTF mass flow rates of 150 kg/h and 200 kg/h respectively. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
