摘要
The goal of the neoplastic disease treatment is the destruction of cancer cells through chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery, allowing the possibility of healthy cells to recover. ne medical team is to decide the treatment to be followed, taking in account the type and stage of the neoplasia, the age and general health status of the patient. Palliation represents a complementary health care modality, which has as purpose the improvement of life quality, not only by treating the disease, but also by providing a special care to the mind and soul. In case of disease recurrence, following therapeutic treatments, it is indicated that the patient together with the doctor and his family decide over the continuation of the etiological treatment, and the medical care should be more focused on maintaining a certain comfort and the dignity of the patient. When the doctor considers that the curative treatment is no longer a solution, it is recommended that he addresses a number of questions regarding the patient's needs. Palliative treatments can be provided by specialized persons also at the patient's home.
