Thermal comfort in tractor cabs

Measurements of the thermal comfort in six modem tractor cabs were carried out. The results from the measurements in winter condition show that the tractor cabs in the study have acceptable, or often better, thermal comfort. Measurements in summer climate without sun load showed that air-conditioning (AC) is a necessity for acceptable thermal comfort. With ventilation only, none of the cabs could maintain acceptable thermal comfort. When AC is used, however, the climate in the cabs was good throughout. Measurements in summer climate with radiant load show that the cabs were able to achieve an acceptable climate when AC and anti-glare screens were used. In summary, it may be stated that the tractor cabs in this study gave good results in comparison with cabs on other types of vehicles.
