Control System Design and Simulation of an AC/DC-DC/DC-DC/AC Power Converter for a Permanent Magnet Wind Power Generator in Rural Power Generation

摘要
This paper deals with the voltage and frequency control of the generated electricity from a permanent magnet wind-turbine. The wind turbine is directly connected to a permanent magnet synchronous generator in order to avoid the losses associated to the gearbox so that only an AC/DC/AC power converter is used to control the variable voltage and frequency. The AC/DC converter is a three phases diode bridge rectifier, the DC/DC converter consists of a Boost converter which keeps the voltage level nearly constant over the whole wind speeds to supply satisfactory a single-phase DC/AC inverter which has four insulated gate bipolar transistors since a single-phase output with constant voltage and frequency is desired. The simulation of the whole system including the permanent magnet synchronous generator and it is verified that the design of the AC/DC/AC power converter and its control strategy work very well and can be readily used in RL loads in rural areas.
