Black colleges are the primary source of African-American Army officers

ROTC programs are scorned by students and faculty at many of the nation's leading colleges and universities. There is no such disdain at the nation's historically black colleges and universities. Ar the HBCUs, ROTC programs are a major source of scholarship funds for black college students. And ROTC programs provide a secure career track out of poverty.
