IMPACT OF ENVIRONMENT ON HERITABILITY AND GENETIC GAIN FOR YIELD AND ITS COMPONENT TRAITS IN MUNG BEAN

摘要
Genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance were estimated for various quantitative characters in forty genotypes of mungbean over eight artificially created environments (two years x two seasons x two date of sowing). The study exhibited high estimates of heritability for days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, number of pods per plant, 100 seed weight and biological yield. The estimates of PCV were higher than those of GCV for all the characters, which indicate greater G x E interaction. The number of pods per plant, 100 seed weight, seed yield and biological yield exhibited high coefficients of variation and genetic gain in most of the environments and hence these are the most important characters for improving the genotypes.
