摘要
The evaluation of the spatial correlation of ground motions is the first step toward an assessment of the seismic risk on a regional scale. This short study focuses on the evaluation of the spatial correlation of ground motions recorded during intermediate-depth earthquakes produced in the Vrancea subcrustal seismic source in Romania for eight spectral periods in the 0.0-3.0 s range. A recently developed ground-motion model is used as reference, and the database consists of around 300 ground motions recorded during eight intermediate-depth Vrancea earthquakes. An exponential model is fitted on the experimental semivariograms, and the resulting correlation ranges are compared with the values obtained in previous studies.
