Super-hydrophobic poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)/TiO2-SiO2 organic-inorganic hybrid coating was prepared by a sol-gel method. Among the coatings, PMMA was taken as the coating-forming materials and SiO2 (14 nm) and TiO2 (100 nm) nanoparticles were used to construct surface roughness. With the aid of heptadecafluorodecyl triethoxysilane (FAS) on the coating surface, the water contact angle (WCA) could reach as high as 155 degrees and the coating has a great transmittance. The coating was tested and characterized by contact angle measurements, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-vis spectroscopy. Results show that the performances of the result coatings are closely related to the mass ratios of PMMA, FAS and nanoparticles.
