The influence of the SER and the AHRF in Spanish historiography

The nearly total absence of Spanish collaborators in the AHRF as well as their incidental presence among the members of the Societe des etudes robespierristes is highly symptomatic of the dominant characters of Spanish historiography for whom the French Revolution was only a negative episode. If one looks for the existence of a robespierrist movement in Spain, it would be necessary to include under this rubric not only those who identified themselves with Robespierre, or publically recognized his merits, but also those who, in a rather hostile context, took the risk of laying claim to the heritage of the Revolution.
