摘要
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of high energy 6 MV X-ray photon beams on fiber of hiffii cylindrica (LC), an agricultural waste of India. Techniques such as XRD, FTIR, SEM and TGA are used to study the structural changes and thermal behavior of Fiber after physical modification by X-ray photon. Results illustrated that the crystallinity of cellulose in modified fibers was destroyed. high reactivity of modified LC fiber was ascertained from the presence of carboxylic group in the FT-IR spectrum. TGA study revealed increase in hydrophobicity of the modified fiber. The variation of these properties was analyzed with variation in dose of irradiation. Before treatment, the LC fibers are modified with Ca salts in order to explore their applications in biomedical terrain.
