Thermal treatment of pitches obtained by anthracene oil air-blowing

摘要
Three pitches obtained by anthracene oil air-blowing were thermally treated at 350, 370 and 390 degrees C for periods of 4 and 8h in order to improve their properties as carbon precursors. Thermal treatment produced a substantial reduction in the hydrogen and oxygen content of pitches and an increase in the values of their toluene insolubles and carbon yield. Changes caused by the thermal treatment in pitch composition brought about a beneficial effect in the optical texture of resultant pitch-cokes.
