摘要
This paper presents a computer system for the detection, classification and process planning of machining features within an extendible framework. Feature face sets are extracted from a 3D CAD model using a feature detection module which has been developed by systematic synthesis and combination of several detection methods. Feature completion and volume formation are then carried out are without prejudging machining process planning decisions. In the third step, the machining volumes are given names linked to machining process options and resources within a framework that allows extendibility without additional programming effort. Results of one of the several components used to test the system are presented.
