摘要
This study was conducted to elucidate the chemical composition of essential oil of Salvia officinalis L. cultivated in Tunisia and to evaluate the insecticidal activity of this oil. The essential oil was extracted by hydrodistillation from fresh aerial part and analysed by gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The major components were a-thujone (21 %), camphor (16.58 %), 1,8-cineole (14.57 %), viridiflorol (7.47 %), beta-thujone (6.76 %), manool (5.34 %), and camphene (4.51 %). Insecticidal assays showed that the essential oil is active against Culex pipiens pipiens larvae. The LC50 (the 50 % lethal concentration) and LC90 (the 90 % lethal concentration) were 58.91 and 113 mu g/ml, respectively. This study showed that S. officinalis L. has also an insecticidal potential through its essential oil content.
