We consider the nonoscillatory half-linear second order differential equation (r(t)phi(x'))' + c(t)phi(x) = 0, phi(x) = |x|(p-2)x, p>1, (*) and we suppose that we know its principal solution (x) over tilde. We establish an asymptotic formula for nonprincipal solutions of (*) and we use this asymptotic formula to obtain an oscillation criterion for (*). (C) 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
