Evaluating the PMD in dispersion managed soliton systems with coarse-step approach

摘要
In this paper, the so-called Coarse-step approach, which is with help of JME (Jone Matrix Eigenanalysis) and CNLSE (coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations), is applied to the DMS systems. The statistical distributing and magnitude of the first and second-order PMD (polarization mode dispersion) vectors are evaluated and the timing displacements of its effects on DMS (dispersion-managed soliton) are given with this approach. The evolution of energy and Mean square of time displacement of DMS's two polarization modes are also simulated. In the end, the relationships of proportions between parameters of second-order and first-order of PMD are gotten. The results are very useful to simplify the measurement of second-order PMD and instructively reveal degree of PMD effects in DMS systems.
