Reflections on reflections about the future of ethnicity

This paper offers some reflections on the article by Herbert Gans on what he calls the coming darkness of ethnicity among the late-generation descendants of European immigrants in the USA. The paper considers a number of the hypotheses that Gans puts forward and raises questions about some of the implications set out for the descendants of contemporary Asian, Latino and black immigrants.
