摘要
Schlesier commentary (2002) draws attention to the meanings of the Big Horn Medicine Wheel for the Cheyenne people. While these meanings are important and compelling, there exists strong evidence to suggest similarities inform shared by the Big Horn Medicine Wheel and traditional ceremonial ("Sun Dance') lodges used by other Plains groups in early historic times as well. Though this does not directly address the origins of the Big Horn Medicine Wheel (a difficult if not impossible task), it does shed light on the multiple meanings and uses evoked by this enigmatic structure.
