High time resolution astrophysics and extremely large telescopes

摘要：
New developments in technology have revitalised the specialist area of high-time resolution astrophysics to the point where it is being used routinely to study a wide range of astrophysical environments ranging from normal stars to AGNs. ELTs are an exciting possibility to extend the time domain to fainter sources, more distant sources and to reduce the time resolution to where quantum effects will begin to dominate.
