Computer-aided design and analysis of a C-band balanced microstrip transmitter

摘要
The purpose of this paper is to present a complete design and analysis of a new integrated balanced transmitter operated at 4.5 GHz. It comprises a 4.5 GHz oscillator and a microstrip-patch antenna resonated at 4.5 GHz. Two different balanced transmitters are designed and introduced. The first one uses a Lange coupler as a power splitter while the second uses a rectangular branch coupler. The module is designed using the microstrip-line technology. It gives a transmit-antenna gain of 15.7 dB with antenna beam widths 91.7degrees and 18.2degrees in E-and H-planes, respectively. This module can be used in satellite communications, Doppler and other radars, active and semi-active seekers, radio altimeters, missile technology, weapon fuzing, manpack equipment, remote sensing, feed elements in complex antennas, satellite navigation receivers, and biomedical radiators.
