Intranet based system for the management of student project work

In a climate of increasing student numbers in University environments and a resurgent vigour in the employers' appreciation of self-directed or group-based project work, the old administrative systems for project management are failing to meet the requirements. Emergent technologies, e.g. Intranets, can provide a total, platform independent solution to such project management systems. A prototype Client-Sen er system is described that allows all required managerial features to be accessed by a multi-media web browser. Benefits are more immediate responses to all users, auditable decision and document tracking for quality control enhanced access to information and significant savings in human resources.
