Development of an Intranet based computerised inventory management system

The astronomical growth of the Internet has spawned innumerable Intranet applications in corporations from all sectors of the industry. In this paper, an intranet bused computerised inventory management system (CIMS) tailored to the needs of the broadcasting industry has been designed and developed The Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) has a large inventory of props used for filming. Maintaining and managing the catalogue of such size poses a major problem. The proposed system serves to provide an accurate means of storing and retrieving multimedia information on the props thereby providing quick turnaround time for props management and tracking. The system entails minimum installation of additional software on client workstations as it is web-based and employs the central server with multiple clients concept.
