摘要
A set of prototype clamping devices for maintaining electrode position during deep brain stimulation surgery are described. Typically, during deep brain surgery, a stereotactic frame is used to implant a semi-rigid electrode into the thalamus. A rigid cannula (hollow needle), surrounding the electrode, is used to guide the electrode during insertion. We have developed clamps designed to ensure the position of the implanted electrode is not inadvertently moved when the guide cannula is withdrawn.
