摘要
Microstructure examination of otoliths of ililsa shad (Tenualosa ilisha, Clupeidae) revealed the influence of lunar cycle on the formation of growth rings (increments). The daily increments grouped with the two tidal phases, viz., neap tide and spring tide period of the 14-day lunar cycle. Eleven smaller rings represented the daily increments formed during the 11 days of the neap tide period and three larger rings represented the daily increments formed during the 3 days of the spring tide period in each 14-day lunar cycle.
