摘要
Channel holding time in wireless mobile systems has been extensively studied. We have assumed that call holding time is exponentially distributed and investigated the impact of subscribers' residing time in a cell on channel holding time. It has been analytically proven and confirmed by means of simulation that the well known formula for mean channel service rate in a nonblocking homogeneous environment is valid for a general dwell time distribution, i.e. is not restricted, as it is commonly believed, to exponential cell residence time only. Simulations have shown that this assumption is not necessary either for exponentiality of channel holding time, which is implied by a general distribution of dwell time provided that its mean is long enough.
