A radiometric device was designed for simultaneous measurement of plant canopy reflectance in two narrow wavelength bands centred around 531 and 570 nm. The device facilitates a quick analysis of a photochemical reflectance index (PRI, a non-intrusive indicator of xanthophyll cycle pigments and of photosystem II photochemical efficiency of leaves). The robustness of the apparatus, the low cost of the components make it suitable for ecological studies and field measurements. Some examples of applications are outlined.
