摘要
Growth promoters like calcium and phosphorus independently and in combination were administered intramuscularly @ 30 mg/kg body weight to record the body-weight gain and histomorphological changes of the endocrine glands. Significantly higher growth was observed in Ca-P combination group compared to all other groups. Treatment of calcium alone caused significant body-weight gain as compared to control animals whereas phosphorus alone did not produce significant effect on growth. Activation of thyroid follicular cells, increase in size of TSH secreting cells and clustering and hypertrophy of STH cells of the pituitary were observed. Small sized internal parathyroid with degenerating chief cells, increased number of light cells with lipid vacuoles and fewer number of dark chief cells were observed.
