摘要
This paper describes the irregular bedrock surface and behaviour of a 40 metre high 27degrees cut slope. This slope has undergone very large non-uniform movements. Curvilinear cracks were formed up to 50 metres behind the crest of the cut slope. Because of the well-planned ground investigation works, irregularities in the underlying bedrock surface could be identified. The detailed monitoring programme developed for the site also enabled the rather uncommon slope movements and their inter-relationship with groundwater rise to be established. Slope designers should be vigilant in identifying heterogeneity in slopes during both the ground investigation and construction stage, making proper assessment of its effect and build in the appropriate robustness in the design.
