Two seven-coordinate organotin complexes, namely, [(Me2Sn) (4,4'-bipy)0.5(CH3OH) (DMF)1 (1) and [(Me2Sn) ( mu-L) (1,10-phen)In (2) (H2I., H2L= 6,6'-dithionicotinic acid, 4,4'-bipy = 4,4'-bipyridine and 1,10phen = 1,10-phenanthroline), were synthesized in a 1:1:1 M ratio reaction of Me2SnCl2, 6,6'-dithionicotinic acid and different N -donor ligands. Both complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, PXRD, TGA, and X-ray crystallography. The structural analysis reveals that complex 1 contains hexanuclear 78-membered macrocycles which further construct a 2D wavelike polymeric structure, while complex 2 displays 1D right-handed helical chain. Complex 1 is further linked into a 3D supra molecular architecture through the intermolecular C13-H13B"-O-2 interactions, and complex 2 is connected into a 2D supramolecular structure by the intermolecular C14-H14 center dot center dot center dot N3 interactions. In such a system, both the mu-L(2-)anion ligand and nitrogen-containing ligands act as bipodal linkers facilitating the formation of metal-organic frameworks. (C) 2018 Elsevier B.V.
