摘要
The diagnosis and management of allergic rhinitis triggered by tree, grass and weed pollen remains complex and costly. Patient and practitioner education is central to starting to reduce the burden of this condition. Giving attention to diagnosing the coexisting types of rhinitis is imperative if patient treatment failure is to be prevented. Seasonal rhinitis is often difficult to distinguish from other forms of rhinitis and the clinical picture on presentation may be confusing. A thorough clinical history together with skin-prick and molecular-based testing are good first steps in the diagnosis of seasonal rhinitis. Patient self-treatment may further confuse the signs and symptoms. Improved patient education is suggested in order to promote an understanding of seasonal allergic rhinitis and its management.
