War in Slovenian and Polish language corpora

The aim of this paper is to present the analysis of concordances with the word war which appear in Polish and Slovenian language corpora (Narodowy Korpus Jezyka Polskiego and Gigafida). The author focuses on such phrases as war is + noun or adjective. The analysis shows that most concordances contain negative opinions about war, which is shown as a problem, a source of volatility, terror, cruelty, instability, etc. Nevertheless, some results show war as a process of the creation of new inventions and links between people. The corpora that are compared contain relatively new texts and that is why the analysis is representative of modern times.
