Vacuum polarization effects in the cosmic string background

摘要
A charged scalar field is quantized in the background of a cosmic string which is generalized to a (d - 2)-brane in locally flat (d + 1)-dimensional space-time. The induced vacuum current is found to circulate around the string. The current is a holomorphic function of the space dimension, decreasing exponentially with the distance from the string. The dependence of the current on the flux and tension of the string is comprehensively analyzed. (C) 2009 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA. Weinheim
