摘要：
This paper presents a possible approach, based on a critical analysis, to two particularly important concepts for both higher education and society: innovation and sustainable development. Starting from some critical considerations regarding the two concepts, the paper points out that sustainable development does not exclude, but on the contrary, requires first and foremost innovation. Thus, innovation is regarded as the path that sustainable development should folow in order to become reality, ensuring prosperity and security of the world.
