CSR AND EMPLOYMENT RESTRUCTURING IN THE COAL MINING INDUSTRY IN POLAND

The article aims to analyse restructuring of the Polish coal mining industry with special focus on employment restructuring and support offered to laid off individuals. The hypothesis of this article is that mining companies according to the CSR concept undertake actions aiming to reduce number of lay-offs during the restructuring and the employment restructuring process has additional financial support from the state. An empirical part of the paper discusses the restructuring of coal mining industry in Poland in the 1998-2014 period. Based on the analysis of materials published by the Ministry of Economy/Energy, the hypothesis of the article may be treated as confirmed.
