We analyze the stability of sliding-filter guided, wavelength division multiplexed soliton transmission systems with a simple sawtooth map for the accumulated group-velocity dispersion. Transmission resonances induced by asymmetric soliton collisions at the amplifiers may be suppressed by the insertion of dispersion compensating fibers. We estimate the margins for the system parameters that permit stable transmission of 4 x 20 Gbit/s signals over transoceanic distances. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
