Major initiatives of the US National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) include development of analytical methods and reference materials to make the development of analytically substantiated dietary supplement databases possible in the future. ODS has an active evidence-based review program focused on efficacy and safety of dietary supplements. It also sponsors basic and clinical research, and information and educational resources, including continuing education conferences and training efforts. (C) 2004 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
