Production and separation of no-carrier-added 48V from 16O irradiated chlorine target

摘要
This is the first report on V-48 production by heavy ion induced reaction on natural chloride target via Cl-nat(O-16,2pxn)V-48 reaction. Four BaCl2 targets of 3.5mg/cm(2) thickness were irradiated with O-16 beam of 45.9MeV, 54.1MeV, 63.4MeV and 70.6MeV energy. About 1kBq yield of V-48 was detected when 63.4MeV O-16 beam (total 2576 mu C integrated charge) interacted with Cl-nat target. No-carrier-added (NCA) V-48 was separated from bulk Ba target by classical precipitation technique using concentrated H2SO4. Ba was quantitatively precipitated while V-48 remained in the supernatant which resulted a high separation factor (similar to 4000).
