Vocal Tract Modeling in 1D and 2D Digital Waveguide Methods

摘要
The digital waveguide method is a technique commonly used in the modeling of room acoustics and musical instruments. In this paper, the method will be used to simulate the propagation of sound waves in an acoustic system. 1D and 2D digital waveguide models are created to approximate the shape of the vocal tract in different vowel positions. The resulting signals produced by both methods bear similar formants to that of recorded speech. In this paper, two different methods of digital waveguide mesh: wave scattering method and Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method will be involved in vocal tract modeling.
