During a recent research meeting, discussion of recent reports in the literature of osteonecrosis of the jaw associated with bisphosphonate therapy significantly increased our anxiety! Many women in our clinic are prescribed bisphosphonate therapy for osteoporosis. How prevalent is this very serious condition? What are the signs and symptoms? What are the treatment options if jawbone necrosis occurs?
