The university is immersed in this context of continuous change, so you should be able to provide an effective response to new needs and demands of cultural, social, professional and scientific. In this sense, must respond to one of the main goals of the university today, the need to train individuals able to occupy a role not only professional but also a role in the society in which they live. This idea is widely accepted by National, European and International different authors that address the issue and the ideology of higher education institutions. In this context, guidance, understood as a process which aims to help the subject get its further development at all levels -personal, academic and professional- is constituted as a mean to facilitate the acquisition of this purpose. In this paper, include some results of an investigation in relation to the perception of teachers and students at the University of Santiago de Compostela about guidance needs of students. With this purpose, two surveys has been elaborated, the survey for teachers and the survey for students. These surveys were postal, e-mail and voluntary. The sample has included one total of 653 students and 224 teachers in the analysis.
