Data on the nesting behaviour of Cerceris interrupta peninsularis Mercet and description of its mature larva (Hymenoptera: Sphecidae)

The nesting behavior and mature larva of Cerceris interrupta peninsularis Mercet are described. The nests belong to the regressive type. On each day, the female brings in the nest prey (weevils) enough to complete a cell. The number of provisioning flights increases during the central hours of the day, and both the first and latest flight of each day are significantly longer than the rest. The mature larva is similar to those described in the genus, but the spinnerets are remarkably short, the labial palpi surpassing them.
