Trade Relations between China and the USA

In recent years, there has been a significant improvement in bilateral trade between the United States and China. This paper examines the trade policies of both nations highlighting their commonalities as well as their differences. By presenting trade backgrounds and trends of both countries, the paper also examines the current US trade deficit with China and its causes. Anti-dumping measures, tariff barriers, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) violations, and the appreciation of the Chinese Yuan against the US dollar are factors highly related to the increasing trade deficit that the US is currently experiencing. Taking all these factors into consideration, a more progressive approach on bilateral trade is vital in overcoming the current trade deficit. The solution lies in the further engagement of the two nations' political and economic interdependence. Tariff barriers must be reduced on all accounts, the appreciation of the Chinese RMB Yuan must be leveled, and uniform recording methods must be established in order to secure the progression of equal bilateral trade between the US and China.
