摘要
The results of the Global Oceanic Conveyor study are presented. They are based on the diagnostic and adjustment computations of the hydrophysical fields using the General Ocean Circulation Model. The equation of neutral admixture transport was analyzed in the calculations of the deep part of the conveyor track. ne surface track and the zones of upwelling and downwelling of the waters were determined directly from the horizontal and vertical current velocities. As a result, the whole track of the Global Oceanic Conveyor was contrived. The process of the formation of the subpolar source of the Atlantic deep water in the North Atlantic is described. Three additional sources of the Atlantic deep water were found in the North Atlantic. It was shown that 20 Sv of the Atlantic deep water are involved into the conveyor, of which 5 Sv flow to the Indian Ocean and 15 Sv flow to the Pacific Ocean. The transport times in selected intervals of the deep and surface conveyor tracks as well as the time of the whole conveyor cycle were estimated. It was also shown that the deep waters of Atlantic origin are formed as a result of a diffuse interaction between the conveyor water and the Atlantic deep water.
