摘要
We propose a new beam forming approach based on 'asymmetric apodization', which was originally used in optics for single openings by Cheng and Siu. Asymmetric apodization is applied to linear aperture arrays, namely a series of discrete small wavelet elements. The method of 'anti-phased peripheral belts' is similar to that used in optics. The criterion for the optimum discrete aperture functions or linear arrays of wavelet elements is proposed for determining essential parameters. Calculation results are presented for several arrays with different numbers of elements. This technique is suitable for improving the performance of antenna arrays or optical gratings.
