Informal Production Systems - the Role of the Informal Economy in the Plastic Recycling and Processing Industry in Dhaka

For many thousands of people in developing countries the informal sector provides their daily livelihood. However, this sector is often regarded as being excluded from growth and development and trapped in external dependencies. In order to examine whether informal activities are truly externalised and stagnating this study analyses the function, linkages and development potentials of informal production systems using the example of Dhaka's plastic recycling and processing industry.
