摘要
Three young dogs developed a necrotizing glossitis after contact with the processional pine caterpillar. The tongue necrosis is due to a toxin released from the urticant hairs of the caterpillar The disease is only seen during spying in dogs who stay in endemic areas of the caterpillars. One dog recovered after symptomatic therapy. The other two dogs had persistant swallowing problems which immediately disappeared after resection of the necrotic tissue.
