Broadband dispersion compensation using rectangular-lattice photonic crystal fibers

摘要
We proposed a new method to design photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) with ultra-high negative dispersion characteristics using a rectangular lattice with modified air holes that works as a cladding. The finite-difference time-domain method is used to analyze the dispersion property in silica PCFs. This method can be used for dispersion compensation in optical telecommunication systems, especially in the window of greatest interest, near 1.55 mu m wavelength. We theoretically presented a dispersion compensating PCF with negative dispersion between -670 and -1590 ps nm(-1) km(-1) in the C-band and particularly -1105 ps nm(-1) * km(-1) in lambda = 1.55 mu m wavelength.
