摘要
The surface current measurements available in near real-time from high frequency (HF) radars cover thousands of square kilometers of coastal ocean and bays and may be used for assimilation and comparison with regional ocean models. A literature review was conducted to survey how the modeling community has utilized this data over the past two decades with the goals of (1) highlighting the advances in this research area, (2) cataloging any common challenges and (3) noting potential opportunities for future operational use and research.
