Electronic structure and optical functions of fullerite C60 films

Full sets of the fundamental optical functions of fullerite C-60 films were determined in the 0-40 eV energy range. The calculations were performed from the experimental electron energy loss spectra. The main features and general regularities of the spectra were determined. The dielectric function spectra were decomposed into elementary,components. The main parameters, of the components were found: the energy values of the maxima E-i and half-widths H-i, areas S-i, and oscillator strengths f(i) of the transition bands. A theoretical analysis of the obtained optical spectra was performed, based on the known theoretical exciton and band models.
