Accuracy of pre and postoperative CT-angiography in cerebral aneurysms

We examined the accuracy related to the indication for this pre- and postoperative employed technique to plan surgical strategies in cerebral aneurysms and as a control after clipping. During the last three years, 48 cerebral aneurysms were diagnosed in 43 patients evaluated with CT-angiograms (CTA). The examination was performed using a Somaton Plus B 31 C, Siemens(R) CT scanner with 3-D and maximum intensity projection (MIP). Intraoperative aneurysm pictures were used for correlation. In 44 aneurysms good preoperative images were obtained. Their correlation with the intraoperative findings was excellent. In 16 emergency cases, a neurosurgical intervention after CTA alone was possible. 32 postoperative CTA examinations confirmed the complete occlusion of the aneurysms.
