Two new 3D supramolecular complexes, [Cu(tmbpm) (ox)(H2O)]4H(2)O (1) and [Zn(tmbpm)(2)(H2O)](ClO4)(2)5H(2)O (2) (tmbpm = 4,4,6,6-tetramethyl-2,2-bipyrimidine, ox = C2O4 (2-)), have been synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 is monoclinic, C2/c, a = 22.429(4) angstrom, b = 7.6501(14) angstrom, c = 25.866(6) angstrom, = 114.630(2)degrees; and compound 2 is monoclinic, C2, a = 18.854(3) angstrom, b = 7.7273(14) angstrom, c = 12.200(2) angstrom, = 93.793(2)degrees. Both compounds 1 and 2 have a mononuclear structure in which the tmbpm ligand adopts bidentate chelating coordination mode. Two 3D supramolecular structures containing 1D water chains are formed via intermolecular O-HO and O-HN hydrogen bonds.
